Implementation of Extended Reach Hybrid TDM-PON for 1:128 split ratio

چکیده
Optical communication technology has been developed rapidly to achieve larger transmission capacity and longer transmission distance. In this paper we demonstrated optical time division multiplexing extended reach 10 Gb/s passive optical network (PON) architecture of 100 km length with 1:128 split ratio. The 100 km system is enabled by the use of corning nexcore fiber and corning SMF-28 fiber with attenuation of 0.21 dB/km and downstream transmission with NRZ and duo binary format, and signals are demultiplexed by semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA’s). SOA can be used for both amplification and attenuation of an optical signal, by turning the gain on and off. The TDM – PON takes advantage of the development of digital transmission and synchronous optical multiplexing. How much amount of power and loss is required in the fiber link calculated by using link power budget analysis. Effects of Modulation Techniques (Manchester Code, NRZ or RZ) on the Operation of Hybrid WDM/TDM Passive Optical Networks
In this paper, the performance and feasibility of a hybrid wavelength division multiplexing/time division multiplexing passive optical network (WDM/TDM PON) system with 128 optical network units (ONUs) is analysed. In this system, triple play services (video, voice and data) are successfully communicated through a distance of up to 28 km. Moreover, we analysed and compared the performance of va...
متن کاملNew and Improved approaches for Dynamic Bandwidth and Wavelength allocation in LR WDM/TDM PON
Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation is a major open research challenge in the migration of Passive Optical Network (PON) systems towards Long Reach PON, especially when hybrid WDM/TDM is used (LR WDM/TDM PON). New and efficient solutions for Dynamic Bandwidth and Wavelength Assignment are sought to address two main critical issues of such PON systems: how to schedule the transmissions over multiple wa...
متن کاملOptimization of long-reach TDM/WDM passive optical networks
Long-Reach Passive Optical Network (LR-PON) using hybrid TDM/WDM techniques is one of the candidates for the future optical access that can solve the expected increase in terms of traffic demand and area coverage. One of its advantages is the possibility to share the capacity of any wavelength among more than one user, through TDM/WDM hybrid multiplexing. However, it is still an open issue whic...
متن کاملWDM extended reach passive optical networks using OFDM-QAM.
In order to reduce the cost for delivering future broadband services, network operators are inclined to simplify the network architectures by integrating the metro and access networks into a single system. Hence, extended reach passive optical networks (ER-PONs) have been proposed. ER-PON usually has four new features: high data rate in both upstream and downstream signals (>1 Gb/s); reach exte...
